Dan Barker issued a challenge to Christians in his book Losing Faith in Faith:
I HAVE AN EASTER CHALLENGE for Christians. My challenge is simply this: tell me what happened at Easter. I don't ask for proof. My sincere request is merely that Christians tell me exactly what happened on the day their most important doctrine was born. Believers should wholeheartedly accept it, for without the resurrection, there is no Christianity. Paul wrote: “And if Christ is not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. And we are even found false witnesses of God; for we have testified of God that he raised up Christ; whom he did not raise, if indeed the dead rise not” (1 Corinthians 15:14-15) . The conditions of the challenge are simple and reasonable. In each of the four Gospels, begin on Easter morning and read through to the end of the book: Matthew 28, Mark 16, Luke 24, and John 20-21 . Also read Acts 1:3-12 and Paul's little version of the story in 1 Corinthians 15:3-8 . These 165 verses can be read in no time. So, without omitting a single detail from these separate accounts, he writes a single chronological account of the events between the resurrection and the ascension: what happened first, second, and so on; who said what, when, and where those things happened. Since the Gospels do not always give precise times, educated guesses are permissible . The narrative does not have to try to present a perfect description, it is enough to give at least a plausible account of all the events. Other explanations of the narrative can be added separately between parentheses . The important condition of the challenge, however, is that not a single Biblical detail can be omitted. Does that seem fair? I myself have tried to meet the challenge. I didn't make it.
I think let's just start.
Friday in Bethany
And when they returned, (the women) prepared aromatic spices and perfumes. (Luke 23:56)
-------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------
Saturday in Bethany
And (the women) on the Sabbath rested according to the commandment. (Luke 23:56)
Saturday in Jerusalem
The next day, which is the day after the preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered before Pilate and said to him: Lord, we remember that when that deceiver was still alive, he said: “After three days, I am raised. Therefore , he commands that the tomb be secured until the third day, lest his disciples come and steal it from him, and say to the people: "He has risen from the dead"; and the last deception will be worse than the first. Pilate said to them: You have a guard; go, secure it as you know how. And they went and made the sepulcher secure; and in addition to posting the guard, they sealed the stone. (Matthew 27:62-66)
-------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------
But on the first day of the week, at daybreak, the women went to the tomb, bringing the spices they had prepared. (Luke 24:1)
And on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went* early to the tomb, while it was* still dark,… (John 20:1)
And they found that the stone had been rolled away from the tomb, (Luke 24:2)
and (Mary Magdalene) saw* that the stone had already been rolled away from the tomb. (John 20:1)
and when they entered, (Luke 24:3)
---------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- ----------------
They did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. (Luke 24:3)
-------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------
And it came to pass that while they were perplexed by this, (Luke 24:4)
----------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- ---------
they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in white clothing; and they got scared. (Mark 16:5)
But he said to them*: Do not be afraid; You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified. (Mark 16:6)
-------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------
They said to them: Why do you seek among the dead the one who lives? (Luke 24:5)
-------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------
He's not here, because he was raised, just like he said. (Matthew 28:6)
Look at the place where they put him. (Mark 16:6)
And go quickly, and tell to his disciples that he was raised from the dead ; and behold, He goes before you into Galilee; there you will see him. Behold, I have told you. (Matthew 28:7)
-------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------
And they, going out in full force rushing from the tomb with fear and great joy, they ran to tell his disciples. (Matthew 28:8)
And returning from the tomb, they announced all these things to the eleven and to all the rest.10 They were Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary, the mother of James; the other women with them also referred these things to the apostles.11 And to them these words seemed like nonsense, and they did not believe them. (Luke 24:9-11)
Then (Mary Magdalene) ran* and went* to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to them*: They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him. (John 20:2)
But Peter got up and ran to the grave; (Luke 24:12)
So Peter and the other disciple went out and went toward the tomb. 4 The two ran together, but the other disciple outran Peter, and reached the tomb first, 5 and leaning down to look in , he saw* the linen wrappings lying there, but he did not go in. (John 20:3-5)
------------------------------------------ -------------------------------------------------- --
Then came* also Simon Peter after him, (John 20:6)
and stooping (Peter) to look in, he saw* only the linen wrappings; (Luke 24:12)
-------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------
and (Peter) entered the tomb, and saw* the linen wrappings laid there,7 and the cloth which had been on the head of Jesus, not put with the linen wrappings, but rolled up in a separate place.8 Then he also entered the other disciple, the one who had reached the tomb first, and saw and believed. 9 Because they had not yet understood the Scripture, that Jesus must rise from the dead. (John 20:6-9)
------------------------------------------ -------------------------------------------------- --
and he (Pedro) went to his house, marveling at what had happened. (Luke 24:12)
The disciples then went back to their own. (John 20:10)
--------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------
When Peter and John arrive where the gathered disciples were, they told them all these things, then two disciples leave for Emmaus.
-------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------
What the disciples of the road to Emmaus :
And also some women among us amazed us; for when they went to the tomb early in the morning,23 and not finding his body, they came saying that they had also seen an apparition of angels who said that he was alive.24 Some of those who were with us went to the tomb, and found him just as the women had said; but they did not see him. (Luke 24:22-24)
------------------------------------------ -------------------------------------------------- --
And after he had risen, very early on the first day of the week, Jesus first appeared to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons.10 And she went and told those who had been with him, who were wailing and weeping.11 When they heard that he was alive and that she had seen him, they refused to believe it. (Mark 16:9-11)
[Then Mary Magdalene and the other Mary go to Bethany (perhaps) or It may also be that Mary Magdalene together with the other Mary returned to the tomb (perhaps)] And behold, Jesus met them, saying: Hail! And they, coming near, embraced his feet and worshiped him.10 Then Jesus said to them *: Do not be afraid . Go, tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me. (Matthew 28:9-10)
". The Bible of the Americas translates better into <<And here is what>> than in the interlinear New Testament of Francisco Lacueva. This is the second appearance of Jesus to the women, this time, to Mary Magdalene and the other Mary. It is the second appearance of Jesus to Mary Magdalene, in the first she did not recognize him but here she recognizes him immediately, Jesus had to go out to meet them so that they tell his disciples about Galilee since they did not tell him out of fear.
And while they were going, I here, some of the guard went into the city and informed the chief priests of all that had happened.12 And after meeting with the elders and deliberating with them, they gave a large amount of money to the soldiers,13 saying: Say this: "His disciples came by night and stole the body while we slept."14 And if this comes to the ears of the governor, we will convince him and save you trouble.15 They took the money and did as they had been instructed. And this saying has spread widely among the Jews to this day. (Matthew 28:11-15)

And behold, that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, which was about seven miles from Jerusalem. 14 And they were conversing among themselves about all these things that had happened. He himself came near and walked with them. 16 But their eyes were veiled so that they would not recognize him. 17 And he said to them, What are these discussions that you have among yourselves as you walk? And they stopped, looking sad. 18 One of them, named Cleopas, answered and said to him: Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened in it in these days? 19 Then he said to them: What things? And they said to him: Those referring to Jesus the Nazarene, who was a powerful prophet in deed and in word before God and all the people; 20 and how the chief priests and our rulers handed him over to death sentence and crucified him. 21 But we hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. But besides all this, this is the third day since these things happened.22 And also some women among us astonished us; for when they went to the tomb early in the morning,23 and not finding his body, they came saying that they had also seen an apparition of angels who said that he was alive.24 Some of those who were with us went to the tomb, and found him just as the women had said; but they did not see him. 25 Then Jesus said to them: O fools and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have said! 26 Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer all these things and enter into his glory? 27 And beginning with Moses and continuing with all the prophets, he explained to them all the scriptures concerning him. and he pretended to go further.29 And they urged him, saying: Stay with us, for it is evening, and the day has already declined. And he went in to stay with them.30 And it came to pass that as he sat down at table with them, he took bread, and blessed it; and breaking it, he gave it to them. 31 Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him; but He disappeared from their presence. 32 And they said to each other, Did not our hearts burn within us as He spoke to us on the road, when He opened the Scriptures to us? 33 And rising up that very hour, they returned to Jerusalem. , he explained to them concerning Him in all the scriptures. 28 They approached the village to which they were going, and He pretended to go further. declined. (Luke 24:13-35)
19 When night came on that same day, the first of the week, and the doors of the place where the disciples were being closed for fear of the Jews, (John 20:19)
And he said to them: This is what I told you when I was still with you: that everything that is written about me in the Law of Moses, in the Prophets and in the Psalms must be fulfilled. 45 Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46 and he said to them: Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and rise from the dead on the third day; 47 and that in his name repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be preached to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 And behold, I will send upon you the promise of my Father; but you remain in the city until you are endued with power from on high.
